"Science"For 4–6 year olds, “Science” in STEAM is all about hands-on exploration and curiosity.
Inquiry Skills (The Scientific Method at Preschool Level) Observing (“What do you notice?”) Predicting (“What do you think will happen?”) Testing & Experimenting (“Let’s try it.”) Recording (drawing, photos, tally marks) Discussing results Life Science: Such as... Plants & Gardening – planting seeds, watching them grow Animals & Habitats – observing insects, fish tanks, worm bins Human Body Basics – senses, healthy eating, exercise Physical Science: Such as... Forces & Motion – push, pull, ramps, rolling objects Sound & Light – shadows, prisms, simple instruments Magnets – attraction/repulsion Earth & Environmental Science: Such as Weather – wind, rain, sun, clouds Water Play – flow, ice melting, evaporation Recycling & Nature Care – composting, upcycling "Technology"We're introducing the tools, devices, and systems humans create to solve problems. At this age, it’s hands-on, exploratory, and developmentally appropriate. At this age,
Digital Literacy Foundations Early Coding & Sequencing Unplugged coding Multimedia Creation Tools & Machines Communication Technology Maker & Tinkering Technology Technology overlaps a lot with Engineering, but the key distinction is: Engineering is designing and building something to solve a problem. Technology is the actual tool or system — and learning how to use it effectively. Core Technology Areas for Early Learners: "Engineering"Our student will engage in designing, testing, and improving solutions to problems. Core elements (scaled down for early learners):
Problem Solving & Design Thinking Identifying a challenge Brainstorming ideas Choosing a plan Building a prototype Testing and improving it Building & Structures Mechanical Engineering Basics Civil & Structural Concepts Electrical/Tech Foundations (intro level) Environmental & Agricultural Engineering |
"Arts"In our STEAM program, “The Arts” is a vital part of developing creativity, self-expression, and cultural identity. The Arts help children think in new ways, communicate ideas, and connect emotion with innovation; this includes
Visual Arts – painting, sculpture, photography, design, etc. Performing Arts – music, dance, drama, theater. Literary Arts – creative writing, storytelling, poetry. Media Arts – film, animation, graphic design, digital art. Applied Arts – fashion design, architecture, industrial design. "Mathematics"Young learners are natural mathematicians—they count their toys, notice patterns on their clothes, and compare who has the “bigger” cookie. Our program builds on this curiosity through hands-on, play-based activities that make math feel joyful and relevant.
We explore: Numbers & Counting – recognizing numerals, understanding quantity, and counting objects in everyday life. Patterns & Sorting – identifying, creating, and extending patterns with colors, shapes, and textures. Shapes & Spatial Awareness – exploring geometry through blocks, puzzles, and building challenges. Measurement & Comparison – using scales, rulers, and nonstandard units to explore size, weight, and volume. Early Operations – introducing addition and subtraction through stories, games, and visual models. Data & Graphing – collecting and representing information with simple charts and tally marks. Program Registration & Details
The schedule, hours, and tuition for our Fall STEAM program are currently being finalized. We will share updates with all interested families as soon as details are confirmed. Use the form below to stay informed. We are projecting an early September start date. |
