THE GREEN GREEN BOOK!
Releases May 31st, 2024
"The Green Green Book" serves as your passport to uncovering Black-owned picturesque farms, sprawling ranches, quaint homesteads, lush food forests, vibrant gardens, bountiful orchards, flourishing vineyards and farmer's markets, each offering immersive and enlightening encounters. A heartfelt homage to the pioneering spirit of the historic "Green Book" guide, this tribute celebrates the unwavering resilience, boundless creativity, and abundant harvests nurtured by Black farmers and entrepreneurs. The original Green Book, officially titled "The Negro Motorist Green Book," was published in 1936 by Victor H. Green, an African American postal worker from Harlem, New York. The Green Book served as a travel guide for African American motorists during the era of segregation in the United States. It listed hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and other establishments that were known to be safe and welcoming to Black travelers, helping them navigate the country safely and avoid the discrimination and dangers they often faced on the road. The Green Book was published annually until 1966, providing invaluable assistance to Black travelers during a challenging and discriminatory time in American history. We humbly offer, "The Green Green Book: The Traveler's Guide to Black-Owned Homesteads, Farms, Orchards, Vineyards, Foraging Forests, Gardens, Ranches and Markets", as your guide in support of Black producers and ranchers in the United States.
